India's Tamizh saint poet Thiruvalluvar’s Thirukkural, popularly celebrated as 'the Vedic Scripture Common to Everyone in the World' (Ulaga Pothu Marai) is an epitome of our great Indian Heritage and Culture. In simple words, Indian heritage and culture can never become complete without Tamizh, Thiruvalluvar & Thirukkural.
But, due to many reasons, the universal usage of Thirukkural - as a panacea to all our problems - has been confined within some small borders. Our Indian youth never know about the great Thiruvalluvar and Thirukkural has unknowingly been confined within the limited boundaries of the Tamizh speaking community.
Hence, the need for a National Youth Mission for Thiruvalluvar: SYT!
SYT, Students and Youth for Thiruvalluvar is a nation-wide loosely knit forum of Young Indian Citizens to spread the message of Thiruvalluvar across our great nation, with the prime goal of our mother nation's unity and progress.
SYT is an open forum to all with the universal message of Thirukkural that shows us the path of harmony and equality with no distinction on the basis of caste, creed or religion.
TRIBUTES TO THIRUKKURAL
“The Kural is the master piece of Tamil Literature-one of the highest and purest expressions of human thought.
“It was one of the couplets in the third part (Kamattuppal) of the poem referring to the looks of a mind the one which kills and the other which cures the looked that led Dr. Graul to admire Tamil poetry and study the Kural.
The Kural is composed in the purest Tamil. In about 12,000 words which the poet has employed to convey his thought there are scarcely fifty of Sanskrit origin. He throws the purity of Bunyan’s English completely into the shade. No known Tamil work can even approach the purity of Kuarl. It is a standing rebuke to the modern Tamil. Tiruvalluvar has clearly proved the richness, melody and power of his mother tongue.
The ‘Kural’ cannot be improved nor its plan made more perfect. It is a perfect mosaic in itself. The slightest change in the size, shape or colour of a single stone would mar the beauty of the whole.
It is refreshing to think that a nation which has produced so great a man and so unique a work cannot be a hopeless, despicable race. The morality he preached could not have grown except on an essentially moral soil. To those therefore, who labour for the salvation of the Tamil people, the ‘Kural’ must be a work of peculiar nay, intense interest.”

Tiruvalluvar was a Tamil Saint. Tradition says that he was a Harijan weaver. He is said to have lived in the first century of the Christian Era. He gave us the famous Tirukkural, holy maxims described by Tamilians as the Tamil Veda and by M.Ariel as one of the highest and purest expressions of human thought. The maxims number 1330. These have been translated into many languages. There are several English translations.”
